Orondis Gold DC Fungicide - Dual-Mode Oomycete Disease Control for Potatoes, Strawberries, Tobacco & More

Orondis Gold DC from Syngenta is a professional-grade suspension concentrate fungicide combining two powerful systemic active ingredients, oxathiapiprolin (3.37%) and mefenoxam (10.10%), into a single, soil-applied formulation for preventative, residual, and systemic control of Oomycete diseases. Designed for soil application, Orondis Gold DC targets tough soilborne diseases, including pink rot and Pythium leak in potatoes, crown rot and red stele root rot in strawberries, and black shank in tobacco, among others. Its dual modes of action deliver both proven performance and meaningful resistance management, making it a strong program anchor for growers dealing with Phytophthora and Pythium challenges. Orondis Gold DC is a reformulated premix version of the original Orondis Gold product with the same active ingredients.

Key Benefits

  • Dual systemic modes of action - oxathiapiprolin (FRAC Group 49) and mefenoxam (FRAC Group 4) work together for stronger disease control and built-in resistance management compared to either active alone.
  • Unique mode of action - oxathiapiprolin's novel oxysterol-binding protein (OSBP) inhibition mechanism has no known cross-resistance to other fungicide groups, providing a valuable tool against mefenoxam-resistant pathogen strains.
  • Preventative, residual & systemic activity - works ahead of infection to protect roots and crowns throughout the disease risk period, with systemic movement into root tissues.
  • Promotes root health - by suppressing soilborne Oomycete populations, Orondis Gold DC supports better water and nutrient uptake efficiency in treated crops.
  • Flexible application methods - labeled for broadcast soil spray, banded application, in-furrow, transplant water, and drip/chemigation on specified crops.
  • Broad crop registration - effective across potatoes, strawberries, tobacco, cucurbits, fruiting vegetables, caneberries, blueberries, and many other specialty crops as listed on the label.

Technical Information

  • Active Ingredients: Oxathiapiprolin - 3.37%; Mefenoxam - 10.10%
  • Formulation: Suspension Concentrate (SC)
  • Fungicide Groups (FRAC): 49 (Oxathiapiprolin - oxysterol-binding protein inhibitor) + 4 (Mefenoxam - RNA polymerase I inhibitor/phenylamide)
  • EPA Reg. No.: 100-1737

Use Sites & Target Diseases

For use on: Potatoes and other tuberous/corm vegetables, strawberries, tobacco, cucurbit vegetables (cucumbers, melons, squash), fruiting vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, eggplant), caneberries (raspberry, blackberry), highbush blueberries, leafy vegetables, spinach, hops, ginseng, and many other specialty crops as listed on the label. For soil application only, not for use as a foliar spray unless specifically directed on the label for that crop.

Controls/Suppresses: Pink rot (Phytophthora erythroseptica), Pythium leak (Pythium spp.) in potatoes; crown rot and red stele root rot (Phytophthora cactorum, P. fragariae) in strawberries; black shank (Phytophthora nicotianae) in tobacco; Phytophthora root rot, Pythium damping-off and seedling disease, downy mildew, cottony blight, and other Oomycete diseases as listed on the label.

Application Rates & Timing

Apply preventively before disease onset or at planting. All applications are soil-directed; do not combine soil and foliar applications of any FRAC 49-containing product in the same crop season. Refer to the crop-specific sections of the label for precise rates and timings:

  • General soil application rate: 20-56 fl oz/acre, depending on crop, disease, and application method; use higher rates in fields with a history of severe disease pressure.
  • Broadcast soil spray: Apply in sufficient water volume to provide uniform coverage; follow with irrigation or rainfall (0.5-1 inch) to move product into the root zone.
  • Banded/in-furrow: Apply at planting in a band or in-furrow as directed for specific crops; refer to the band rate conversion table on the label.
  • Transplant water: Apply through transplant water systems on specified crops; use a minimum of 200 gallons carrier volume per acre to reduce injury risk; do not apply to stressed seedlings or in hot, dry conditions.
  • Chemigation (drip irrigation): Labeled on specified crops; when applied via drip, oxathiapiprolin protects roots within the wetting zone. Follow all chemigation safety device requirements listed on the label.

For resistance management, when 3 or more fungicide applications are made in a season, use Orondis Gold DC or any other FRAC 49-containing product in no more than 33% of those applications (or a maximum of 2 applications per crop, whichever is fewer). Do not follow soil applications of Orondis Gold DC with foliar applications of any FRAC 49-containing product in the same crop. Observe all maximum seasonal rates, pre-harvest intervals, and state-specific restrictions on the label.

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS BEFORE USE.
