Triad TZ Select Herbicide - Four-Way Broadleaf & Nutsedge Control for Lawns, Sod, Turf & Non-Crop Areas

Triad TZ Select from Albaugh (Prime Source) is a four-active, selective broadleaf herbicide that combines 2,4-D ester, triclopyr ester, dicamba, and sulfentrazone in one emulsifiable concentrate. The three Group 4 growth regulators work together to kill dandelion, clover, plantain, spurge, ground ivy, and dozens of other lawn weeds, including ones that a single active leaves behind, while the Group 14 sulfentrazone adds suppression of nutsedge. The ester formulation is absorbed quickly and is rainfast in as little as 3 hours, and it is labeled for cool-season turf as well as dormant warm-season turf, making it a versatile pick for lawn care operators, sod farms, and property managers who want broad-spectrum control without tank mixing multiple products.

Key Benefits

  • Four actives, three modes of action - 2,4-D, triclopyr, and dicamba (Group 4) plus sulfentrazone (Group 14) for the broadest broadleaf spectrum and added nutsedge suppression.
  • Tough weeds controlled - dandelion, white clover, plantain, spurge, chickweed, dock, henbit, and ground ivy, among many others on the label.
  • Fast uptake - ester formulation is rainfast in as little as 3 hours.
  • Turf versatility - safe on listed cool-season turf and on dormant bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, and bahiagrass.
  • Residential to commercial - labeled for lawns, institutional grounds, ornamental turf, commercial sod production, and non-cropland such as roadsides and rights-of-way.

  • Re-Entry Interval (REI): 24 hours

Use Sites & Target Vegetation

For use on: residential and domestic lawns, institutional turf, ornamental turf, commercial sod production, and non-cropland including roadsides, rights-of-way, industrial sites, airports, and railroads. Labeled turf: Kentucky bluegrass, annual bluegrass, annual and perennial ryegrass, tall fescue, red and fine leaf fescue; and, when dormant only, hybrid and common bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, and bahiagrass. Do not apply to St. Augustinegrass, bentgrass, greens and tees, carpetgrass, dichondra, or legumes, or to lawns where desirable clovers are wanted.

Controls: dandelion, spurge, white clover, plantain, chickweed, dock, henbit, ground ivy, and many other broadleaf weeds listed on the label; suppression of nutsedge.

Application Rates & Timing

  • Cool-season turf (broadcast): 3.25 to 4 pt/A (1.2-1.5 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft).
  • Dormant warm-season turf (broadcast): 2 to 2.25 pt/A (0.75-0.83 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft).
  • Spot treatment (hand-operated sprayers): mix 1.2-1.5 fl oz per gallon of water for cool-season turf, or 0.75-0.83 fl oz per gallon for dormant warm-season turf, to cover about 1,000 sq ft.
  • Spray volume: 10 to 220 gal/A (0.25 to 5 gal per 1,000 sq ft).
  • Maximums: 4.0 pt/A per application and 8.0 pt/A per year. Ornamental turf and sod: up to 2 applications per year (sod at least 21 days apart); non-cropland annual and perennial weeds: up to 2 applications at least 30 days apart; non-cropland woody plants: 1 application.

Apply to young, actively growing weeds; spring and fall are preferred over summer, and control is best when daytime temperatures are above 50°F. Do not broadcast above 85°F or in low humidity with high heat. Delay application on newly seeded turf until after the second or third mowing, and wait 3 to 4 weeks on newly sodded, sprigged, or plugged areas. Skip mowing for 2 days before and after application, and reseed no sooner than 3 weeks after treatment. Adjuvants can injure turf leaf tissue, so use them only if your experience shows no injury.

Important restrictions: do not apply to water, shorelines, wetlands, or irrigation and drainage ditches or banks, and do not apply through any irrigation system. Not for aerial application. Do not apply in winds above 10 mph or during temperature inversions, and do not apply if sensitive plants lie within 250 ft downwind, since drift of the 2,4-D, triclopyr, and dicamba can injure broadleaf plants, trees, and ornamentals. State limits: in New York the maximum is 4.75 pt/A per application, one application per year, and it is not for sale or use in Nassau or Suffolk Counties; not approved for sod farms in Arizona; in California, broadcast applications are allowed only March 1 through September 1, bare ground applications are not permitted, and efficient irrigation is required for 6 months after application.

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS BEFORE USE.
