Flumioxazin 51WDG Select Herbicide - Pre- & Post-Emergence Control for Ornamentals, Non-Crop Areas, Aquatics, Forestry & Dormant Turf

Flumioxazin 51WDG Select from Prime Source (a division of Albaugh, LLC) is a water-dispersible granule containing flumioxazin, the same active ingredient used in Valor SX and Chateau, a Group 14 PPO inhibitor that controls susceptible grass and broadleaf weeds pre-emergence and provides contact post-emergence activity on weeds under 2 inches tall. It's an unusually versatile herbicide with distinct, separately labeled use patterns: around established woody ornamentals and bare ground non-crop areas, in container and field-grown conifers (including Christmas trees) and deciduous trees, in conifer and poplar reforestation sites, on dormant warm-season turfgrass, and for management of floating, emergent, and submersed weeds and algae in slow-moving or quiescent water. Because it's a contact herbicide with limited translocation, direct spray contact with desirable foliage or green bark can cause injury — careful, directed application is essential around anything you want to keep.

Key Benefits

  • Same active ingredient as Valor SX and Chateau - proven flumioxazin chemistry across a much broader set of labeled use patterns.
  • Pre- and post-emergence activity - controls germinating weeds before emergence and provides contact control of actively growing weeds under 2 inches tall.
  • Five distinct use categories in one product - ornamental/bare ground non-crop, conifers and deciduous trees (container or field), conifer and poplar reforestation, dormant warm-season turf, and aquatic vegetation management.
  • Aquatic herbicide option included - controls floating, emergent, and submersed weeds and algae (duckweed, hydrilla, watermilfoil, and more) in bayous, canals, lakes, ponds, and reservoirs via surface or subsurface application.
  • Resistance management value - Group 14 mode of action helps manage ALS- and other resistance-prone weed biotypes when rotated or tank-mixed with other groups.
  • Broad tank-mix compatibility - compatible with glyphosate, 2,4-D, dicamba, and many other herbicides depending on use site, for broader-spectrum or faster burndown programs.

Use Sites & Application Rates

Rates and restrictions vary meaningfully by use pattern:

  • Woody ornamentals & bare ground non-crop areas (apartment complexes, fence rows, gravel, golf courses, lumberyards, parking areas, schools): 8–12 oz/A pre- or post-emergence (plus surfactant post-emergence); directed spray only - do not apply over the top of ornamentals; max 24 oz/A/yr; 30-day retreatment interval
  • Container & field-grown conifers (including Christmas trees) and deciduous/non-bearing fruit & nut trees: 8–12 oz/A pre- or post-emergence to dormant/hardened-off plant material; see Tables 2 and 3 on the label for tolerant species lists; max 24 oz/A/yr; do not harvest fruit/nuts within 1 year of application
  • Conifer & poplar reforestation sites (not for use in CA): 8–12 oz/A as site preparation (3-month wait before transplanting) or as a release treatment within 3 years of transplanting, applied before budbreak or after dormancy; max 24 oz/A/yr
  • Dormant warm-season turfgrass (bermudagrass, centipedegrass, seashore paspalum, St. Augustinegrass, zoysiagrass - 29 listed states only, not CA or AZ): 8–12 oz/A broadcast (plus surfactant if weeds present) or spot treatment at 0.25 oz/gal; turf must be fully dormant - any green turf will be injured; not for golf course putting greens; max 24 oz/A/yr
  • Aquatic - floating/emergent weeds (surface application, not for use in AZ): 6–12 oz/A broadcast plus an aquatic-approved adjuvant; max 24 oz/A/yr, 2 applications/yr, 28-day retreatment interval
  • Aquatic - submersed weeds (subsurface application, not for use in AZ): rate calculated to produce 200–400 ppb water concentration based on water depth (see Table 3 on label); max 400 ppb per application, 12 applications/yr, 28-day retreatment interval

Critical handling note: This is a contact herbicide with limited translocation - direct spray contact with foliage, green bark, flowers, or exposed roots of desirable plants can cause severe injury or death, especially in herbaceous bedding plants. Always direct sprays to the soil/base of plants and maintain an untreated buffer around anything you want to protect. Do not incorporate into soil after application (reduces efficacy). Not for application through any irrigation system except as specifically outlined for aquatic use.

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS BEFORE USE.
