Octivio Herbicide - Imazamox 12.1% Postemergence Weed Control for Alfalfa, Clover, Soybeans & Food Plots

Octivio Herbicide from Atticus LLC is a soluble liquid postemergence herbicide formulated with imazamox at 12.1% (ammonium salt; equivalent to 1 lb imazamox acid equivalent per gallon) - containing the same active ingredient used in Raptor Herbicide, at the same concentration. Imazamox is an imidazolinone ALS inhibitor (HRAC Group 2) that is selectively safe on legumes, chicory, Clearfield varieties, and other tolerant crops while providing postemergence control of a broad spectrum of annual grasses, broadleaf weeds, and sedges. Octivio is absorbed through both foliage and roots, translocated to actively growing points, and stops susceptible weed growth rapidly - with affected weeds yellowing and ceasing competition within days of application. With no pre-harvest interval on any labeled crop and a flexible application window from the seedling stage through established plants, Octivio is one of the most practical and economical weed management tools available for alfalfa, clover, soybeans, dry and snap beans, peas, chicory, edamame, and legume-based food plots. We also carry Imox Herbicide by Alligare, which contains the same active ingredient and is registered for aquatic and non-cropland sites. Octivio carries the full agricultural crop label required for direct use in food plots and row crops.

Key Benefits

  • Full agricultural crop label - directly registered for use on alfalfa, clover (nonfood/nonfeed and for seed), soybeans, dry beans, snap beans, peas, edamame, chicory, and lima beans; no reliance on supplemental bulletins or 2(ee) recommendations required for these uses.
  • No pre-harvest interval on any crop - Octivio carries no PHI for any of its labeled crops, giving growers and food plot managers maximum flexibility on application timing without harvest timing concerns.
  • Selectively safe on legumes and tolerant crops - imazamox is the herbicide of choice for weed management in clover and alfalfa food plots; it will not injure clover, alfalfa, soybeans, beans, or peas at labeled rates while providing broad-spectrum weed control.
  • Broad-spectrum control of grasses, broadleafs, and sedges - controls and suppresses a wide range of annual grass species, broadleaf weeds, and some sedges in a single application; see the weed control table on the label for the full species list.
  • Flexible application window - can be safely applied from the seedling stage through established crops; ideal for in-season weed management programs or reactive applications when weed pressure develops.
  • Residual soil activity - when adequate soil moisture is present, Octivio provides short residual activity on susceptible germinating weeds following foliar application, extending the period of weed suppression beyond the initial pass.

Labeled Crops

Octivio is directly registered for postemergence use on the following crops:

  • Alfalfa
  • Beans (dry)
  • Chicory
  • Clover grown for nonfood and nonfeed (including food plot clover)
  • Clover grown for seed
  • Edamame
  • Lima bean (succulent)
  • Peas (dry)
  • Pea (English)
  • Snap bean
  • Soybean

Food plot note: The "clover grown for nonfood and nonfeed" registration makes Octivio one of the most straightforward imazamox options for food plot managers - the crop use is directly on the label, not contingent on a supplemental bulletin. Octivio is safe on clover, alfalfa, and chicory food plots at labeled rates. It is not safe on grass species - do not apply to grass-based plots, grass hay, or pasture grasses.

Target Weeds

Octivio controls and suppresses a broad spectrum of annual grasses, broadleaf weeds, and sedges. Key species include:

Annual grasses: Barnyardgrass, crabgrass, fall panicum, foxtails (giant, green, yellow), Japanese millet, shattercane, volunteer corn (non-Clearfield), wild proso millet, and others.

Broadleaf weeds: Annual morningglory species, black nightshade, buckwheat (wild), buffalobur, carpetweed, cocklebur, common lambsquarters, common ragweed, common sunflower, Eastern black nightshade, giant ragweed, jimsonweed, kochia, Pennsylvania smartweed, pigweed species (redroot, smooth, Powell), prickly sida, prostrate knotweed, purslane (common), Russian thistle, shepherd's purse, velvetleaf, Venice mallow, and others.

Perennial grasses (suppression): Feral rye (suppression), johnsongrass (seedling), quackgrass (suppression), and others. See the complete weed control table on the label for all species and associated efficacy ratings.

Important: Naturally occurring ALS/AHAS-resistant biotypes of some listed weed species may not be controlled. If resistance is suspected, rotate to a herbicide with a different mode of action and contact your local extension service or crop advisor.

Application Rates & Directions

Apply postemergence to actively growing weeds and crops. Weed control is optimized when weeds are small and actively growing. Adequate soil moisture improves both foliar activity and residual performance. An adjuvant AND a nitrogen fertilizer solution are required for postemergence applications unless otherwise specified in the label for a given crop:

  • Alfalfa: 4-6 fl oz/acre; apply when weeds are ¼ inch to 3 inches tall; can be applied over the top of alfalfa at any growth stage
  • Clover (food plot - nonfood/nonfeed use) and clover for seed: 4-5 fl oz/acre; apply when clover has a minimum of 2 trifoliate leaves and weeds are 1-3 inches tall; do not apply to stressed clover
  • Chicory: 4 fl oz/acre; apply early postemergence when chicory has at least 2 and no more than 4 fully expanded true leaves; do not apply to stressed chicory; nitrogen fertilizer increases weed control but also increases crop response risk - use with caution
  • Soybeans: 4 fl oz/acre when preceded by a soil-applied grass herbicide; 5 fl oz/acre in a total postemergence program; apply to weeds up to 4 inches tall (grasses) or 3 inches tall (broadleafs)
  • Dry beans and dry peas: 4-5 fl oz/acre with or without nitrogen fertilizer; when nitrogen fertilizer is added, sodium bentazon must be included to minimize crop response; for dry peas, always add sodium bentazon
  • Adjuvant (required): Crop oil concentrate (COC) or methylated seed oil (MSO) at 1-2% v/v, high surfactant oil concentrate (HSOC) at 0.5% v/v, or nonionic surfactant (NIS, min. 80% ai) at 0.25% v/v
  • Nitrogen fertilizer (required, except south of I-40 in most states): Liquid AMS, 28% N, 32% N, or 10-34-0 at 2.5 gal/100 gal spray solution; or spray-grade AMS at 12-15 lb/100 gal; higher rates (5% UAN or 20 lb AMS/100 gal) when targeting feral rye or stress-affected weeds
  • Small-plot / spot spray (food plot use): Approximately 1 teaspoon per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft; see label for the 1,000 sq ft rate table

Do not apply through any irrigation system. Do not tank mix with organophosphate or carbamate insecticides - if these insecticides are needed, separate application by at least 7 days before or after Octivio to reduce crop injury risk. Clean spray equipment thoroughly with water after use before applying other products, as imazamox residue can injure sensitive crops, including canola, lentil, rice, sunflower, wheat, leafy vegetables, and sugar beet.

Rotational crop restrictions: Most labeled crops (soybeans, beans, peas, alfalfa, clover, chicory) may be replanted at any time if necessary. For rotational crops other than those listed as safe for replanting, injury is possible, and timing restrictions apply. Refer to the rotational crop restriction table on the label before replanting any non-listed species after an Octivio application.

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS BEFORE USE.

Why Professionals Choose Octivio

For anyone running clover, alfalfa, or legume-based food plots, imazamox is one of the most effective and safe-to-use weed management tools available - and Octivio puts that proven Raptor chemistry in a label that directly covers clover grown for nonfood/nonfeed use, eliminating the need to rely on supplemental recommendations or off-label interpretation. The no-PHI status, flexible application window from seedling to established plant, and residual soil activity make it a practical fit for both commercial row crop producers managing soybeans, alfalfa, and bean acres and for food plot managers who want clean, grass- and broadleaf-free legume plots without the complexity of a multi-product program. At 4-6 fl oz/acre, Octivio is a highly economical tool that stretches one gallon across 21-32 acres - putting Raptor performance at a generic price point.
