Imazapyr 4 SL Herbicide - Imazapyr 4 lb/gal for Forestry, Aquatic, Industrial Bareground, Rangeland & Right-of-Way Vegetation Control - FREE SHIPPING !!!

Imazapyr 4 SL from Alligare is a water-soluble, non-crop herbicide formulated with the isopropylamine salt of imazapyr at 52.6%, equivalent to 4 lb acid equivalent per gallon. Imazapyr is a Group 2 (ALS-inhibiting) herbicide absorbed through both foliage and roots, then translocated into the growing points and root systems, so it kills perennial weeds and woody plants down to the roots rather than just burning back top growth. It controls most annual and perennial grasses, broadleaf weeds, vines, brambles, brush, and trees, and leaves residual activity in the soil that controls newly germinating weeds. That versatility is why one jug works across forest site preparation and conifer release, aquatic and wetland margins, fence rows, wildlife openings, rangeland and pasture spot treatments, industrial sites, and total bareground control, with foliar, stump, cut-stem, injection, and hack-and-squirt application methods all on the label.

Key Benefits

  • Kills roots, not just tops - rapid translocation into meristematic tissue and underground storage organs prevents most regrowth in perennials, brush, and trees.
  • Residual activity - provides soil residual control of labeled weeds that germinate after application, extending the benefit of a single pass.
  • Broad spectrum - the label lists well over 150 grasses, broadleaf weeds, vines, brambles, and woody species, including cogongrass, phragmites, giant reed, kudzu, saltcedar, Japanese knotweed, and Russian knapweed (see label for rate-by-species tables).
  • Many application methods - broadcast by ground or helicopter, directed and spot spray, cut stubble, cut stump, frill/girdle, tree injection, and hack-and-squirt.
  • Selective conifer work - labeled for forest site preparation, herbaceous weed control, and release of many pine, fir, and spruce species at species-specific rates.
  • Aquatic label - controls emergent and floating weeds and shoreline vegetation in and around standing and flowing water, including estuarine and marine sites (licensed aquatic applicators only).
  • Grazing-friendly - no grazing restrictions after application on pasture and rangeland spot treatments; wait only 7 days before cutting forage grass for hay.

Technical Information

  • Active Ingredient: Isopropylamine salt of imazapyr - 52.6% (4 lb ae/gallon)
  • Formulation: Aqueous solution (SL) - mix with water and a surfactant
  • Herbicide Group: 2 (ALS inhibitor / imidazolinone)
  • EPA Reg. No.: 81927-24
  • Re-Entry Interval (REI): 48 hours (WPS-covered forestry uses); for non-agricultural uses, keep out until sprays have dried

Use Sites & Application Rates

For use on: forestry sites, aquatic sites, grass pasture and rangeland (spot treatment), fence rows, wildlife openings, and industrial non-cropland - railroad, utility, and pipeline rights-of-way, utility plant sites, tank farms, pumping installations, storage areas, building perimeters, irrigation and non-irrigation ditch banks, roads, transmission lines, and industrial bareground. Do not use on food or feed crops, Christmas trees, or lawns. Include a nonionic surfactant (0.25% v/v or higher) or methylated seed oil (1.5-2 pt/A) for postemergence applications. Key uses:

  • Forest site preparation (broadcast): 12-40 fl oz/A depending on the conifer species being replanted (e.g., loblolly, longleaf, shortleaf 24-40; slash pine 20-32; Douglas-fir, redwood, western hemlock 12-24; ponderosa, lodgepole, white pine, and spruces 12-16); use the higher rates on dense hardwood stands
  • Conifer release (broadcast or directed): 6-20 fl oz/A by species and age of stand; mid-rotation understory release in loblolly and Virginia pine 16-32 fl oz/A; follow the label's timing and species notes closely to avoid conifer injury
  • Herbaceous weed control in conifers: 4-10 fl oz/A depending on species; backpack spot mix 0.4-0.6 fl oz per gallon plus 0.2 fl oz surfactant
  • Directed foliar / spot spray: 1-5% v/v in water (1 gal of solution = 1-1/3 oz at 1%, 3-1/3 oz at 2.5%, 6-2/3 oz at 5%) plus at least 0.25% nonionic surfactant
  • Cut stump & cut stem: dilute solution of 4-6 fl oz per gallon of water, or undiluted/up to 75% water for injection and hack-and-squirt (about 1 mL per cut, one cut per 3 inches of trunk diameter); apply any time except heavy spring sap flow; best in late summer and early fall
  • Cut stubble: 1-2 pt/A within 2 weeks after mowing or cutting brush
  • Aquatic and wetland margin weeds: 1-3 pt/A depending on species and density (max 3 pt/A/yr); applied to emergent foliage only - the product has little to no activity on submerged or mostly submerged plants; treat no more than half the water surface per operation and wait 10-14 days between treatments
  • Total vegetation control / bareground: 0.75-3 pt/A alone or tank-mixed with partners such as diuron, simazine, or Vanquish
  • Dormant bermudagrass & bahiagrass (unimproved roadsides/rights-of-way): 3-6 fl oz/A on dormant bermudagrass; 2-4 fl oz/A on bahiagrass
  • Pasture & rangeland spot treatment: 1-24 fl oz per treated acre; spot treatments may not exceed one-tenth of the area grazed or cut for hay

Maximum rate: do not apply more than 1.5 lb ae/A/yr - 48 fl oz of product per acre per year on terrestrial sites (3 pints per acre per year for aquatic use).

Equipment & application: ground boom, backpack, and hand sprayers, tree injection equipment, and helicopter only - no fixed-wing application. Use 5-100 gal/A by ground and 5-30 gal/A by helicopter. Follow the label's droplet size and boom height requirements; do not apply in winds above 10 mph, aerially in winds below 3 mph, or into temperature inversions. Mix and apply only in stainless steel, fiberglass, plastic, or plastic-lined steel - never unlined steel tanks. Do not store below 10°F.

Important restrictions: imazapyr can move through soil and be taken up by the roots of desirable trees and shrubs - do not apply on or near desirable plants, where their roots extend, or where treated soil may wash or move to their roots. Do not use treated vegetation as mulch or compost. Aquatic applications may only be made by federal or state agencies or licensed/certified aquatic pest control applicators, are not permitted within one-half mile of an active potable water intake without shutting it off for 48 hours, and carry a 120-day restriction on use of treated water for irrigation. California does not approve several aquatic and terrestrial uses, including temporary-water forestry sites and a number of listed species. Rotational crops may be planted 12 months after a pasture/rangeland application, following a successful field bioassay.

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS BEFORE USE.
