Drexel Carbaryl 4L Insecticide - Carbaryl 42.6% Broad-Spectrum Contact & Stomach-Action Insecticide

Drexel Carbaryl 4L Insecticide from Drexel Chemical Company is a flowable suspension formulated with carbaryl at 42.6% (4 lb ai/gallon) - a Group 1A carbamate insecticide that controls susceptible pests through both contact and stomach action. Carbaryl has been a trusted broad-spectrum standard in agricultural and turf pest control for decades, and Drexel's label reflects that breadth: field crops, vegetables, legumes, tree fruit and nut crops, small fruits and berries, forestry and ornamental plantings, turfgrass, and non-cropland sites are all covered, along with specific programs for grasshoppers, imported fire ants, and ticks. It readily disperses in water for application by ground or air, and remains one of the most versatile, go-to insecticides for growers and applicators managing a wide range of chewing and sucking pests.

Key Benefits

  • Broad-spectrum contact and stomach-action control - effective against a wide range of beetles, worms, caterpillars, leafhoppers, aphids, plant bugs, and more.
  • Exceptionally broad label - covers field crops, fruiting and leafy vegetables, legumes, tree fruit and nuts, small fruits and berries, forestry and rangeland trees, ornamentals, turfgrass, and non-cropland.
  • Flexible use patterns - labeled for foliar spray, sprinkler chemigation (center pivot or solid set), direct trunk treatment for bark beetles, fire ant mound drench, and structural perimeter treatment.
  • Specialty pest programs included - dedicated use directions for grasshoppers, imported fire ants, and ticks that may vector Lyme disease across multiple site types.
  • Group 1A rotation option - a distinct mode of action from pyrethroids, diamides, and neonicotinoids, useful in resistance management programs.

Crops, Sites & Representative Rates

Rates vary significantly by crop, target pest, and pest life stage — use the lower rate for light infestations/young plants and the higher rate for heavy infestations/mature plants. A sample of major labeled uses:

  • Field & sweet corn: 1-2 qt/A for most pests, up to 2 qt/A for cutworms; max 8 qt/A/yr (field), 16 qt/A/yr (sweet); do not hand-detassel or hand-harvest within 21 days
  • Soybeans & legume vegetables: 0.5-1.5 qt/A depending on pest; max 6 qt/A/crop/yr; do not combine with 2,4-DB on soybeans
  • Fruiting vegetables (tomato, pepper, eggplant): 0.5-2 qt/A; PHI 3 days; max 8 qt/A/crop/yr
  • Tree fruit (pome, stone, citrus): 1-5 qt/A depending on crop and pest (up to 20 qt/A/crop/yr on citrus); also labeled for apple fruit thinning at 1-3 qt/A between 80% petal fall and 16mm fruit size
  • Tree nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans, pistachios, and others): 2-6 qt/A; max 15 qt/A/crop/yr
  • Small fruits & berries (grapes, caneberries, bushberries, strawberries, cranberries): 1-2 qt/A; PHI 7 days; max 10 qt/A/crop/yr
  • Turfgrass (golf courses, sod farms, cemeteries, commercial landscapes, lawns): 2-8 qt/A (1.5-6 fl oz/1,000 sq ft) depending on target pest; broadcast application limited to golf courses, sod farms, cemeteries, and commercial landscapes - residential lawn use is spot-treatment only; max 16 qt/A/yr; no aerial or chemigation application
  • Ornamentals, forestry & rangeland trees: 0.75-1 qt/A (0.5-0.75 fl oz/1,000 sq ft) for most foliar pests; direct trunk treatment for bark beetles at 5 fl oz/gal
  • Non-cropland (rights-of-way, ditchbanks, CRP acreage, and similar sites): 0.25-1 qt/A depending on target pest; max 3 qt/A/yr
  • Imported fire ants: 0.75 fl oz/gal as a mound drench, or 1.5 fl oz/gal broadcast (growing media only, outdoor use)
  • Ticks (Lyme disease vector species): 1 qt/A (0.75 fl oz/1,000 sq ft), regardless of site - will only kill ticks present and directly contacted at application

Bee caution: Highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment or residues on blooming crops or weeds. Do not apply to crops or weeds in bloom (exception: corn and soybeans, where application timed to low bee activity is permitted if bloom cannot be avoided). Notifying beekeepers within 1 mile at least 48 hours before application is recommended.

Compatibility note: Unstable under alkaline conditions - do not use in spray water with pH above 8.0 unless buffered to neutral. Not compatible with diesel fuel, kerosene, fuel oil, or aromatic solvents. Do not use on Boston ivy, Virginia creeper, Maidenhair fern, or Virginia/Sand pines - injury may result. May stain stucco, brick, cinder block, and wood.

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS BEFORE USE.
