Trizmet II Herbicide - Atrazine & Metolachlor Broadleaf & Grass Weed Control for Field Corn and Popcorn

Trizmet II from Drexel Chemical Company is a professional-grade, pre-mix liquid herbicide combining atrazine (3.1 lb/gal) and metolachlor (2.4 lb/gal) for broad-spectrum control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in field corn and popcorn. Its dual mode of action delivers both contact and residual activity, making it an effective foundation program herbicide from pre-plant through early postemergence. Please note that the metolachlor in this product is the R-metolachlor isomer, rather than the S-metolachlor found in some competing formulations such as Dual II Magnum.

Key Benefits

  • Dual active ingredients - atrazine and R-metolachlor provide two complementary modes of action for broader, more reliable weed control.
  • Broad-spectrum control - controls most annual grasses and broadleaf weeds, including problem species such as Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, kochia, and ragweed.
  • Flexible application timing - labeled for early preplant, preplant surface, preplant incorporated, preemergence, and early postemergence applications.
  • Resistance management tool - serves as an effective foundation herbicide for the prevention of herbicide-resistant weed biotypes in corn production programs.
  • Tank-mix versatility - compatible with atrazine, glyphosate, gramoxone, and other labeled herbicides for expanded spectrum or burndown programs.
  • Formulated with a safener - includes a corn safener to reduce the risk of crop injury when used as directed.

Technical Information

  • Active Ingredients: Atrazine - 33.1% (3.1 lb ae/gal); R-Metolachlor - 26.1% (2.4 lb ai/gal)
  • Note on Metolachlor Isomer: This product contains R-metolachlor, the racemic isomer, rather than the enantiopure S-metolachlor found in products such as Dual II Magnum. Buyers should be aware of this distinction when comparing formulations or managing resistance programs.
  • Formulation: Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC); shake well before using
  • Herbicide Groups: C1 (Atrazine - photosystem II inhibitor) + K3 (Metolachlor - VLCFA/cell division inhibitor)
  • EPA Reg. No.: 19713-547
  • Restricted Use: Yes - restricted use pesticide due to ground and surface water concerns; for sale to and use only by certified applicators or persons under their direct supervision.

Use Sites & Target Vegetation

For use on: Field corn and popcorn (conventional, minimum-till, and no-till systems). A supplemental label also covers sweet corn use; consult the label for details.

Controls/Suppresses: Most annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in corn, including Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, kochia, common ragweed, giant ragweed, velvetleaf, lambsquarters, pigweed species, barnyardgrass, green foxtail, yellow foxtail, witchgrass, and others as listed on the label.

Application Rates & Timing

Select rate based on soil texture, organic matter, and tillage system per the product label rate tables. Rainfall or irrigation within 2 days of application is important for adequate activation and weed control:

  • Early preplant, preplant surface, or preplant incorporated: Apply in water or fluid fertilizer at label-specified rates for your soil type; incorporate to 2 inches if using the PPI method.
  • Preemergence: Apply after planting but before corn or weed emergence; ensure adequate moisture for activation.
  • Postemergence: Apply in water only (not fluid fertilizer) to corn up to the growth stage specified on the label; use the lower labeled rate for POST applications.
  • Aerial: May be applied by aircraft in water; fluid fertilizer applications by ground equipment only.
  • Atrazine rate cap: Do not exceed 2.0 lb ai/acre of atrazine per single application, and no more than 2.5 lb ai/acre total atrazine (and/or simazine) per year. Consult the Atrazine Watershed Information Center (AWIC) at www.atrazine-watershed.info or 1-866-365-3014 before use to confirm your watershed is not restricted.

Do not apply through any irrigation system. Observe all setback requirements from wells, streams, and water bodies as specified on the label.

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS BEFORE USE. RESTRICTED USE PESTICIDE.
