Mainline Herbicide - Flumioxazin + Imazapic Pre & Post Residual Weed Control for Rights-of-Way, Roadsides & Industrial Sites

Mainline from Alligare is a non-crop herbicide that pairs flumioxazin (22.06%, 2.0 lb/gal) with the ammonium salt of imazapic (11.67%, 1.0 lb ae/gal) to burn down emerged weeds and keep new ones from germinating. Flumioxazin (Group 14) delivers fast contact activity and a soil barrier, while imazapic (Group 2) is taken up by leaves and roots to control tough grasses and broadleaves and extend the residual. With two modes of action at a single low-volume rate of 16 to 24 fl oz per acre, it is a practical choice for railroads, utilities, pipelines, roadsides, airports, and industrial sites that need long-lasting vegetation control from one application a year.

Key Benefits

  • Two modes of action - Group 14 plus Group 2 for burndown and residual in one jug, helping manage resistance.
  • Pre- and postemergence - controls emerged weeds and provides residual activity on new germination (activated by 1/2 inch of rain or irrigation).
  • Broad spectrum - the label lists grasses such as johnsongrass, crabgrass, foxtail, cheatgrass, medusahead, and nutsedge, plus broadleaves including kochia, pigweed, waterhemp, horseweed (marestail), Canada thistle, and velvetleaf.
  • Low use rate - 16 to 24 fl oz per acre, one application per year.
  • Tank-mix flexible - labeled partners include glyphosate, imazapyr, diuron, triclopyr, metsulfuron, picloram, and aminopyralid products.

Use Sites & Target Vegetation

For use on: rights-of-way (railroad, utility, pipeline, highway), roadsides, highway medians, railroad crossings, industrial and utility plant sites, substations, petroleum tank farms, pumping installations, non-agricultural fence rows, storage areas, non-irrigation ditch banks, and airports. Do not use on food or feed crops, nursery, orchard, or ornamental plantings, or new or seedling tree plantings.

Controls: annual and perennial grasses including bahiagrass, barnyardgrass, crabgrass, dallisgrass, downy brome (cheatgrass), foxtail, goosegrass, johnsongrass, medusahead, ryegrass, sandbur, shattercane, and nutsedge; and broadleaf weeds including amaranth, bindweed, chickweed, cocklebur, dandelion, curly dock, fleabane, horseweed, kochia, lambsquarters, mallow, morningglory, nightshade, pigweed, plantain, ragweed, Russian thistle, spurge, velvetleaf, and waterhemp. See the label for the complete list.

Application Rates & Timing

  • Broadcast: 16 to 24 fl oz/A (0.25-0.38 lb ai flumioxazin and 0.13-0.19 lb ae imazapic). Apply preemergence before weeds emerge, or postemergence to actively growing weeds; control drops on stressed, mature, or hardened-off weeds.
  • Spot treatment: 0.75-1.0% v/v solution with 0.25-0.5% v/v methylated seed oil (MSO). Do not exceed 0.55 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft.
  • Maximums: 24 fl oz/A per application, 24 fl oz/A per year, and only one application per year.
  • Postemergence adjuvant: crop oil concentrate (at least 15% emulsifier / 80% oil) or nonionic surfactant (at least 80% active). Ammonium sulfate (2.0-2.5 lb/A) or 28-32% nitrogen (1-2 qt/A) may be added but does not replace the oil or surfactant.
  • Spray volume: ground broadcast at least 10 gal/A (more once weeds emerge); handgun at least 40 gal/A; aerial 5-10 gal/A at no more than 40 psi.
  • Tank mixing: add a labeled glyphosate product where established perennial grasses are present. Mixing with phenoxy herbicides such as 2,4-D may reduce perennial grass control.

Important restrictions: do not apply within 300 ft of non-dormant pome or stone fruit. Avoid foliar contact with desirable trees and brush, keep rinsate away from tree roots, and do not apply after bud swell where foliage contact could occur. Do not apply to water or areas with surface water, where runoff is likely, or if rain is expected within 1 hour; the label warns of a high potential to reach surface water for several months and of leaching in permeable soils over shallow groundwater. Maintain a vegetative buffer strip near water features. Soil carryover may injure rotational crops. Do not apply through any irrigation system or in winds above 15 mph, and do not apply during temperature inversions. Mix water at pH 5-7, run a jar test before first use, and apply within 48 hours of mixing.

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS BEFORE USE.
